Caleb turned 2 months old on Sunday, July 31st! We spent the majority of that day driving back from our fun beach trip to Galveston that we took with some of Matt's friends from college and their wives. We had a fabulous time and I think Caleb did too! Here he is lounging on the beach...he's a natural!
Caleb went to the doctor on Monday morning and had to get his first set of vaccines. He did great for the shots (cried for like 30 seconds until I picked him up), but then Monday night he started running a fever and then Tuesday he got pretty clingy and fussy and ran fever most of the day and evening. He's not running a fever today (Wednesday) and not acting so fussy, so I think he's better:)
Caleb was 10 lbs, 13 oz and was 22.8 inches at his appointment. He's gained 2 pounds and a little over an inch in the last month!! He is wearing size 1 diapers (though some of the brands are still a little big for him) and 0-3 month clothes. He started smiling this month on July 10th and hasn't stopped! He also has been "talking" or cooing more with us....it's so adorable. He is such a happy, easy, good baby. He hardly ever cries (just when you put him on your shoulder to burp him and when he is tired or hungry) and he's put himself on a little schedule. He is usually up at 6:30 or 7:00 in the morning (sometimes earlier) and then he eats and then goes back to sleep around 8:30-9:00 and sleeps for about 2 hours. Then he's up for about 2 hours and sleeps again for 2 hours. Then he takes usually a short nap at night either right before or while we are eating dinner and then goes to bed between 8:30 and 9:00. So he eats about every 3-4 hours during the day. He is sleeping anywhere from 5-7 hours at night in a row at the beginning (SO nice!) and usually gets up to eat and then goes right back to sleep for another 3-4 hours. Sometimes he wants to talk to Mommy for awhile after he eats and I usually let him because he's so happy and cute during the night! He loves bathtime, his activity mat, and is starting to be more interested in toys & books. He doesn't like tummy time anymore, but he's doing so good at holding his head up. He loves for us to hold him up like he is walking and he puts weight on his legs and is so happy that he is "standing".
We had some fun adventures this past month - to Waco for the Armstrong's Baby Shower, to an outdoor pizza oven restaurant in St. Jo, Texas to celebrate Nana & Coach's 35th Anniversary, and then to Galveston this past weekend. We also take him out to eat about once a week and then of course to the store, Target, church, etc. I promised myself before I had a baby that I wouldn't stay home all the time and miss out on things. I don't know what I would do if I had a difficult baby, but we definitely get out often (even in the heat!) and Caleb does so well. He also really loves to be outside, which is so unfortunate since it's like 110 degrees this week, and we can hardly be out there but for 5 minutes or less.
I just love this little boy so much and can't wait to see what the next month holds!
What a little stud! Love the update. LOVE when they start smiling and cooing. It's a nice reward :) And I love that you cart him everywhere! It makes life easier even if you have to pack up your entire living room to do it :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I DO pack up the entire living room! You should have seen us in Galveston...we had SO much stuff....and I think we used everything we brought!
