One Month Old!

Caleb turned one month old on June 30th!  We will celebrate Caleb's month birthdays on the last day of every month, since he was born on the 31st and that day doesn't come each month. We went to the doctor for a check-up and he was 8 lbs 9 oz and 21.5 inches long.  He's growing tall and thin like his daddy!

He's fitting better in his 0-3 month clothes and still wearing newborn diapers, but he also fits into size 1 diapers.  He is still a very easy to soothe baby unless he's hungry.  He's starting to enjoy the bath (until you take him out) and also went swimming on July 4th for the first time.  He sleeps pretty good throughout the night and takes lots of little naps throughout the day and sometimes a long one in the afternoon.  We still aren't really on a consistent schedule, but surprisingly, if you know me well, we're doing very well with it!  He's pretty predictable about eating every 3-4 hours overnight and then usually goes right back to sleep.  He loves his tummy time every day and he is starting to be more interested in toys.  I'm trying to read to him daily, but he's not really interested in looking at books yet, so we usually just talk to him a lot!  I think he will start smiling socially any day now as he looks so intently at our faces and looks so happy, but won't let that smile happen quite yet:)

Here's a couple more pictures of our little guy:

He wasn't really smiling.  I just took the picture at the right time.

We feel so blessed and grateful to the Lord for giving us this little gift.  I can't speak for Matt, but I know he would agree, that being a parent is an amazing and most wonderful thing.  I am in awe that we are entrusted with teaching and raising this little boy.  We can't wait to watch him grow and see his little personality develop.  We are praying that he will develop the characteristics of Caleb in the Bible - a bold and confident leader who followed the Lord fully (see Numbers 14).
